4.2  Spin the wheel and make a sentence with the word you get. Make sure that it has either a gerund phrase or an adverbial phrase of purpose in it.

 

 

 

 Week 4:  "DIY: Do It Yourself" (Chapter 8)

 

 

 

Task 1:  I can do this!  

Look at the four pictures above. Discuss with your partners what materials are necessary and how much time you would need to make each project. Decide which two projects you would really like to do.

 

Task 2:  Practice the new vocabulary!

Take turns to spin the wheel and ask your partner a question that uses whatever word you get in a meaningful way. Your partner must answer your question!

Take turns with your partner to spin the wheel and make a meaningful sentence using the word you get. Use the first conditional structure reviewed in the previous task.

Example:  If students don't read about what happens in the world, their knowledge will always be outdated.

Watch the video and take notes on the tip you were assigned and include them in THISLinks to an external site. collaborative document. Get ready to make a short presentation to the rest of the class on your tip and your ideas around it.

4.2  What is Paragliding?

4.2.1  Watch this short video to learn what paragliding is. Take notes about the different forces that help keep a paraglider in the air despite gravity pulling him or her down. Talk with your partner about paragliding.  Do you think you could learn to paraglide on your own?

 

 

4.2.2   Make ten statements about the video that include embedded questions.

 

Task 5:  Class discussion

How the internet is affecting our reading skills and proficiency based on the information provided in the book, and how you think this will affect learning in the future.  Two teams will hold and defend opposing positions on this topic.

 

 

 Week 2:  "Treasured Places" (Chapter 6)

Task 4:  Let's find solutions to protect our coral reefs!

Once again, look at this infographic:

Choose one of the ways suggested for protecting coral reefs in this infographic and do more research on it.  Go HERELinks to an external site. and upload three slides or publications on the topic your group chose, under an appropriate title. Each group should upload their findings in a different column or "section". Afterwards, the final product can be viewed as a collaborative presentation using the "presentation" option of Padlet.

This class is putting up a virtual support group to help each other out and share testimonies on how each of us handles stress. 

Prepare a 2-minute speech where you share a testimony of a high-peak stress moment you had.  Talk about the best ways in which you fight your stress (either work place stress or personal life stress). Be ready to share.   - INCLUDE VOCABULARY WORDS -
